ALP Active provide a fun, safe and affordable holiday club & sports camps throughout Durham for children during school holidays. Based at Staindrop Academy, our holiday club offers high-quality childcare, engaging activities and a friendly environment where children can stay active, make friends and enjoy their school holidays.

Week 2 – Monday 27th July – Friday 31st July
Week 4 – Monday 10th August – Friday 14th August.

Drop-Off, Pick-Up & Arrival Information
Parents and carers should park in the main car park at Staindrop Academy. Children should be dropped off and collected from the school main reception, which will be clearly identifiable from the front of the building.
If you need to collect your child early, please inform a member of staff on arrival so arrangements can be made.
Age Groups & Supervision
Children attending our holiday club are placed into groups based on similar ages and interests. Groups are led by our experienced staff who plan daily activities tailored to the group to ensure every child is engaged, active and having fun.
Siblings and friends can stay together where possible—just speak to our coaching team at drop-off and we will accommodate this where it is safe to do so.
Holiday Club Times & Prices
Our holiday club prices are flexible to suit working families. Discounts are available for full-week bookings and siblings.
Daily Prices
8:30am – 3:30pm: £10.00
Full week price 5-Day Week (5 days for the price of 4)
8:30am – 3:30pm: £40.00
4-Day Week (4 days for the price of 3½)
8:30am – 3:30pm: £31.50
Sibling Discount: Additional siblings receive 25% off
What Children Need to Bring
To ensure your child is prepared for a fun-filled day at our holiday club, please bring:
- A packed lunch
- A drinks bottle
- Suitable clothing for indoor and outdoor activities
- If your child is in receipt of a fun and food tickets a hot meal will be provided.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a holiday club or a sports camp?
Our programme combines both. ALP Active runs a holiday club that also operates as a sports camp, offering a balance of structured sports, active games and creative activities throughout the school holidays.
Is the sports camp suitable for children who are not sporty?
Yes. While we run an active sports camp, our holiday club is designed to be inclusive. Children can try new sports at their own pace and also enjoy creative, social and team-based activities.
What happens if the weather is bad during the sports camp?
Our sports camp makes full use of school indoor facilities. If the weather is unsuitable for outdoor sport, activities will move indoors so children can continue to enjoy an active holiday club day.
Are staff qualified to run a sports and holiday camp?
Yes. All sessions at our holiday club are delivered by trained and experienced coaches or PE teachers who specialise in working with children and delivering safe, engaging sports and activity sessions.
Can children attend the holiday club for just one day?
Yes. Our holiday club offers flexible booking options, including single-day attendance as well as discounted multi-day and weekly sports camp bookings.
Is food provided at the holiday club?
Parents are asked to provide a packed lunch and drinks for children attending our holiday club and sports camp. However if you have enrolled through the Durham County Council fun and food project we will provide a snack and hot meal for those in receipt of the fun and food tickets.
