Hummersknott Academy

Hummersknott Academy, part of the Advance Learning Partnership, is a secondary school in Darlington educating approximately 1,250 students aged 11–16. It’s state-of-the-art facilities provide a full range of sporting and educational activities for it’s students and ALP Active makes these facilities available seven days a week, during both school term time and holidays.

We offer a wide variety of facilities for hire in Darlington, including:

  • Sports: large sports hall, floodlit 3G pitch, grass football pitches, swimming pool, netball courts, badminton courts, table tennis courts and gymnasium
  • Performing arts: Performance hall, drama and dance studios and music practice rooms.
  • Learning spaces: classrooms, ICT suites, art rooms, textiles room, food tech room
  • Other spaces: dining hall, courtyard, playground

Our facilities are perfect for:

  • Sports training, matches and tournaments
  • Dance, drama and music performances
  • Community classes, clubs and workshops
  • Children’s birthday parties and special events

We also run a Holiday Club for children in Darlington and the surrounding areas during school holidays, Monday to Friday from 8:30–17:30 (excluding bank holidays).

3G Pitch

Our full-size 11-a-side 3G pitch is floodlit and can be divided into three smaller 7-a-side or 5-a-side pitches. It is ideal for football training and matches, rugby training, hockey and children’s birthday parties.

  • Price per hour for full 3G pitch – £115 (Adults) £86 (Juniors – 18 and under)
  • Football party with coach – £110 (includes 1 hour football / 1 hour dining hall hire)

Swimming Pool

Our 20-metre swimming pool features four lanes available for hire, with the option to book a qualified lifeguard if required. It is ideal for swimming lessons, public swim sessions and children’s birthday parties.

  • Price per hour – £60 (Adults) £55 (Juniors – 18 and under)
  • Pool party with lifeguard – £130 (includes 1 hour swim / 1 hour dining hall hire)

Sports Hall

Our Sports Hall is a versatile space equipped with cricket nets, 5-a-side football and futsal goals, basketball and netball hoops, badminton nets, table tennis tables, and a dividing curtain to allow the hall to be split into two. It is ideal for a wide range of activities including indoor football, futsal, cricket practice, basketball, large fitness classes, badminton, table tennis and netball. The hall is also available for children’s birthday parties, such as football parties, indoor bouncy castle hire and Nerf-style parties.

Gymnasium/Dance studio

Our large gymnasium is equipped with mirrored wall panels, gym mats and a range of exercise equipment. It provides an ideal space for dance groups, gymnastics and fitness classes.

  • Price per hour – £30 (Adults) £28 (Juniors – 18 and under)

Playing Fields

We offer multiple grass playing fields suitable for football fixtures, training sessions, outdoor events and tournaments. Our pitches include three full-size 11-a-side pitches, one smaller 11-a-side pitch, one 9-a-side pitch and one 7-a-side pitch.

  • Price per match – £52 (Adults) £38 (Juniors – 18 and under)
  • Sports events or tournaments – prices to be agreed

Pat Howarth Hall

The Pat Howarth Hall features retractable, theatre-style seating for up to 208 people, with additional space available for seating at the front. The hall is fully equipped with professional lighting and sound systems, making it an ideal venue for dance and music performances, exhibitions, conferences, fitness classes and children’s birthday parties.

  • Price per hour £36(for shows and large-scale events, including use of the green room, servery, and lighting and sound booth)
  • £32 (Adults -hall hire only)
  • £30 (Juniors – hall hire only)
  • Table and Chairs for seated guests – £1 per head (eg 100 seated = £100)

Dining Hall

The Dining Hall is a large, flexible space ideal for fitness and exercise classes. It is also available for table tennis, children’s birthday parties, and can be used alongside bookings of the Pat Howarth Hall for large-scale dance shows and events.

Drama/Dance studios

Our drama rooms are ideal for performing arts activities, dance classes, martial arts lessons, yoga classes and more. The two rooms offer different flooring options, with one featuring laminate flooring and the other being half carpeted. Both rooms are equipped with tables, chairs, mirrors, an interactive whiteboard and speakers.

Classrooms

We offer a variety of spacious classrooms, each equipped with tables, chairs, a projector and a whiteboard. Each room typically seats around 36 people, but layouts can be adapted to suit your needs. Our classrooms are currently used for English, Maths and foreign language lessons, as well as meetings and performing arts classes.

Netball Courts

The outdoor court area features three full-size netball courts and can also be used for a variety of outdoor fitness activities.

Music Rooms

We have two large music rooms and three smaller practice rooms. The large rooms are ideal for music lessons and can be equipped, on request, with pianos, keyboards, drum sets, guitars (acoustic and electric), amps, microphones, tables, chairs, a projector and an interactive whiteboard. The practice rooms are perfect for one-to-one lessons, with equipment also available on request.

Art Studios

Our art studios are ideal for art clubs and classes. They are equipped with art-style tables and chairs, a projector, an interactive whiteboard, and a kiln (available upon request for trained users).

ICT Suites

Our computer rooms feature up to 30 computers, a projector and an interactive whiteboard, providing the perfect environment for delivering online courses, computer based lessons, digital media classes and digital skills workshops

Food Technology Room

Our Food Technology Room is perfectly designed for cookery lessons, with 16 workstations, each offering its own cooking equipment on request. The room also includes a projector and interactive whiteboard for demonstrations and instruction.

Textiles Room

Our Textiles Room is ideal for sewing lessons, with sewing machines available to use on request and is also equipped with a projector and interactive whiteboard for demonstrations and instruction.
